Who I Am
I am Joan Pascale Goldstein. I have been an independent Interior Designer since 1985. I have a Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design. Prior to college, I had always felt the desire to cultivate my aesthetic design and color sense, my motivation, being a desire to create beautiful environments for people to live in comfortably.
My style is eclectic with an understated elegance and a keen eye for interesting color palettes, and a focus on high end furnishings. Custom designed furnishings and rugs have been a significant part of my repertoire, in frequent collaboration with craftsmen such as carpenters, fine artists, and a variety of talented trades people.
Through my career I have held positions as, Assistant to the Decorator at House Beautiful Magazine, in which I worked for the decorating editor. I was a designer, for Donghia Associates with clients that included, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lauren, in particular worked on a project for their Jamaican residence, and the Polo showrooms previously at the Gotham Hotel. I also have worked for Xanadu Design, which specialized in Caribbean resorts and residences, homes spanning from St. Thomas to Tortola. Further, I designed a home that was featured in the first Lewis M. Klein Harrison, NY house tour. As well as being a featured designer in a show house for Cerebral Palsy.
